Rebeca graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2022 with a degree in Environmental Engineering. She has had the opportunity to explore various fields through her previous co-op placements and started her career by focusing on stormwater management designs for land development projects. Through this experience, she has developed a keen interest in hydrology and hydraulic modelling and continues to apply those skills at Resilient!

 

Why did you choose a career in Environmental/Water Resources Engineering?

“Having been born and raised in Nicaragua, I had the honour to grow up with a rich culture, incredible food, and natural beauty all around. However, the rainy season was always seen as a blessing for the fields and a curse for the urban environments. Through this exposure, I became deeply passionate to find effectie and environmentally friendly water solutions for the safety of our communities”
